PIXIE

Pixie needs Puppy Rescue Mission to get her to her Soldier!!!

Basically, I inherited a puppy which I have grown really attached too. I do not know the exact details of how she was found but she was rescued from being put down by some dog handlers. The dog handler then returned to the UK after bringing her to the FOB I work at.

Since she arrived, I have made sure she has been fed and looked after to the point she just follows me everywhere. This has caused a few problems as she follows me into ops and tries to follow me when I go anywhere in a vehicle. Moreover, she has a strange fascination with cables and shoe strings which can present a problem as you can imagine.

Her name is Pixie and she is a grey/white afghan mongrel who is very playful and affectionate. I have attached some pics and to be honest I have well over 100 pictures. Iam also eagly awaiting toys and puppy items that I have had sent over from home.

This is where I am not sure what to do, I know she would be well looked after here but even when I was away for a few days she has been scratching at my door and pining for me. I would love to take her back to the UK but I have no idea how to do this.
I am quite prepared to stump up as much as I can afford to get her back to the UK with me but when I looked checked through work it was going to take longer than the time I have left in theatre. She was rescued from being put down in a village and ended at my FOB about 2 months ago and I have looked after her ever since.
She is an adorable friendly puppy who is full of mischief..I would be gutted to leave Pixie behind.

Many Thanks!

The $2500 we are rasing are to get Pixie to the UK.  Then she has quarantine fees which Pixie's Daddy is trying to fundraise.  We will keep you posted as to how that is going.
Soldier only has a limited amount of time before he leaves.  Please help!

Rufus Update!

Exciting News!  It looks like Rufus is a bundle of fun.  Email from Afghan:

In the two weeks since he showed-up, Rufus has become a bouncy, jumpy, fun little guy zooming all over the place. The transformation has been incredible. He's got a round little puppy belly now and is getting a sof...t, fluffy winter coat. And now his tail spends more time up in the air and wagging instead of tucked between his legs. He's no longer scared of everything, and goes galloping up to greet anyone, who comes by and wants to play. I kind of wish that he wasn't so outgoing and curious, just for his own safety's sake. He lives by a check-point and there are a lot of vehicles that go roaring by, and he's not as aware of his surroundings as he should be. The positive side is that there are guards there throughout the day, who like him, so he is getting very well socialized. He lets me carry him now (he was mad at me for while after visiting the vets) and will sprawl on my lap until he gets bored. At night, when the checkpoint closes, he goes in his house and beds down. Looking at his gangly legs and paws, I think that he'll be a good size and active dog. So he probably needs some outdoor space, and I believe that he'll get along with senior animals (cats and dogs). Rufus is a great little puppy and will make someone happy.

Rufus will be traveling Soon!  So Cross your Paws that all goes safe for this sweet little guy!!!

IT'S A NEW DAY...

Yesterday was an emotional day for so many of us that have been following the story and events in Target's Life since February 2010.  The Young family seems to be doing ok since the tragic event on November 15th.  Continue to pray for Healing for them and lets continue to Focus on the Mission...

Light a Candle in Memory of Target

There will be a time when all animals will live peaceably together and there will be no more suffering (Is. 65:25). This is God's will on Earth as it is in Heaven. Being His adopted children and made in His image, we follow His commission to be caretakers for all of His creation (see Gen. 1:26, 28).

SHEBA'S SOLDIER IS HOME!!!

This is Sheba and her Soldier Randy now reunited in Maine!  Paw Salute Randy!!!
This is Sheba and her Soldier Randy in Afghanistan before she was rescued.
Well hello everyone.
We have so much to post in the next few days so hang in there.  New rescues & chipins!  Daisy & Pixie will be our next soldiers pups!  Sasha's House is really rockin.  Many new homes for some special puppies.  Angel, Molly & looks like Tilly are going to be packing their bags for the USA.  Rufus is pending.  We should have a few more that need homes soon.  Will post as soon as we know.  Rufus will need some funds as the kind soldier has rescued 5 animals already at his expense and we told him we would help him with Rufus.  Rufus was snipped ouch yesterday at the vet in Kabul and he got his shots.  We need to raise $1200 for his travels.  Here is a picture of him returning from the vet after he got neutered.  Very tired pup!

Check out Rufus Story

"In loving memory of my adopted veteran Lionel G., who left us last week after a life of service to the country and to others". His family and friends asked for donations in lieu of flowers.

Rufus will be needing $1200 to pay for his transportation to the US.  His soldiers have already rescued 5 dogs to the USA on their own dime.  I told them I would try to get enough donations to at least cover the plane ride to the US and a pet crate.  Rufus has 3 possible homes that the soldier will be picking from so wish him luck as they are all special families.  If you can donate it would be greatly appreciated!
PAW SALUTE!!!

Rufus will not be able to get to the States till January as he still needs his shots. He is living outside a base camp just outside the gates with Molly. He is adorable and Molly has a home now in the US and will be traveling this month. Molly took in the sweet puppy when he wandered onto the base. He was very scared and would just sit in the dog houses that the soldiers made for the strays and Rufus would bark at all the dogs and humans. Molly took him in and now they are best buds. Of course everyone is so anxious to get Rufus to a loving home in the US as once Molly leaves we are afraid what may happen to Rufus.

In Memory of Target Hero Dog From Afghanistan

Tilly's Story!

   12/3/2010
Shafina in Afghanistan where Steven met her and fell in love.  How could you leave such a sweet thing?  The rescuer was the same organization that rescued Tilly.

Shafina today in Texas.  She and Tilly will be sisters and look they both have white booties!  TWINS!

Wonderful News! Tilly has a new family in the USA!  She will be living with Steven & Angela in Texas!  Shafina is her new sister and she was brought back by Steven as a puppy last year from Afghanistan.  Shafina was found on a remote military post in Afghanistan.  The 2 girls will be doggie battle buddies. They will be spoiled & loved dearly by their 2 service member in the household.  (She'll also be chipped and registered like Shafina.)

Having Tilly arrive in time for Christmas will be a real blessing.  We're extremely appreciative of the opportunity to adopt Tilly & will set up a Facebook page for her to let everyone know how she's doing & how thankful she is that everyone helped bring her to a happy forever home!

Thank you very much!  Steven & Angela

She is now at 100%!!!  Now to firm up her forever home!
Hey all...I haven't gotten around just yet to personally thanking everyone that has donated...but I promise I will soon. In the meantime, thank you. It is truly humbling and I will continue to keep everyone updated as we move forward. Thanks again

Tilly's Story
Hello friends!

"Tilly" needs your help. We are sending out a plea to all our animal loving friends out there to help raise funds to send a very special and deserving dog back to the US so she can find a loving home. Tilly is a very sweet girl that we rescued from a sewer drain on the side of a busy street in Afghanistan. She was attempting to survive the best she could with her 4 remaining puppies (2 were already found dead). We couldn't bear what we saw so we took Tilly and her remaining puppies to our safe house where we were able to care for her and the puppies. Unfortunately, the 4 puppies died from a serious illness they had already contracted but we were at least able to provide them with lots of love and care. These dogs became a blessing for all the soldiers in our house as they gave us a sense of normalcy and the bond we developed was very strong. When we all had to vacate our safe house, unfortunately Tilly wasn't able to move with us but luckily I was able find an area shelter to temporarily keep her. She is a very gentle, sweet girl who deserves a loving home. She is healthy, has had her vaccinations but still requires spaying. Unfortunately, the cost to bring her back to the states is high because of all involved. The total is $2500. Were asking if your able to help in anyway, thank you! This ChipIn page securely connects any credit card payments to a PayPal site that will be used to collect donations solely for Tilly's benefit.
